 A tour of Italy: the Island wines 

thursday 9thjuly: 19:00-21:00

Time to move off the mainland and check out the wines of Sardinia and Sicily. Sardinia is well known for the the beautiful reds made from Garnacha, known locally as Cannonau and the fresh lightly fragrant whites from Vermntino. Sicily, one of the biggest production regions of Italy, has a wide range of gorgeous whites and reds. We will highlight the wines made from Cattaratto, Nero d’Avola and Nero Mascalese. A feast for the palate.

Taste a selection of wines as you go, with questions designed to be accessible for all levels—no need to be an expert to join in the fun. A tour of Italy: the deep South

Our final tasting on the tour looks at the beautiful wines of Campania and Puglia. Both regions are home to many indigenous grape varieties that have, in the past, made some good drinking wines. Today, winemakers and growers have elevated the quality of their offerings and now they stand as some of the best in the country. The warmth of the regions is mirrored in the depth and richness of both the white and red wines and this promises to be a great evening.

Join us on a journey through the Crouch Valley and discover the character, quality and diversity of English winemaking in an evening of tasting, learning, and celebrating the remarkable wines coming out of the county over the river.

The Pinot Family

Meet the Pinots, a tasting of the many different types and styles of wines produced from, arguably the world’s best grape variety, Pinot Noir and its mutations. Sounds a little unpleasant until you realise that the ‘mutations’ include Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc, as well as Pinot Meunier. The wines will come from England, France, Germany and further afield but all will carry the Pinot DNA.
